Fanfare
Fanfare is a short, direct and ceremonial piece for solo trumpet. It explores the different tone colours of the trumpet by using different playing registers, alternative fingerings and a harmon mute.
The piece starts with a statement of three notes; these notes act as building blocks for the piece as they come back at the end of the first section to announce the second section and again at the end of the piece. The solo Trumpet line is heavily based on intervallic leaps of ninths, sevenths, and augmented fourths, as well as repeated notes played in different ways.
